Children of the Night
Viscount Aetherton Lowls of Versex
Son of a Count descending into madness
Description:
Description
Early 20s, dark hair, dusky skin, middling height, about 180 lbs. In cities, he generally wears fine clothing and carries a rapier, as benefits nobility. In the field, he wears a set of leather armor from some exotic beast, clearly custom fitted, with the crest of Versex embossed on the left shoulder, and the emblem of Rozenport directly underneath, with no rank insignia. His weapon is a fine mithril longsword, a gift from the Church of Iomedae.

Minor: Loyal
This character can never leave a man behind if there’s any chance at all he could help.
Minor: Cautious
Some folks gather too much intelligence. This character personifies over-cautiousness. He never makes rash decisions and likes to plot things out in detail long before any action is taken

Leather Armor (Wyvernhide, Masterwork) Armor +2 Weight 12 Cost 500 Notes: Covers Torso, Arms, Legs, rarity 4

Longsword Str+d8+1 wt 8 cost gift Notes Mithril, Masterwork
A gift from the Church of Iomedae, presented at the groundbreaking ceremony for a temple in Rozenport. While it is decorated, it is clearly meant to be used.
Rapier Str+d4 wt 3 cost 150 Notes Parry +1
A light weapon for around town. While it is made to be used, it is more of an indicator of noble status than a serious weapon. Prominently marked with the arms of Versex on the basket, and Aetherton’s name and titles are inlaid in silver along the blade.
Warhorse with leather barding, cost 750 Notes: Knows Aetherton, will allow itself to be led, but will not permit anyone else to ride.
Warhorse (SWD p138, Mounted combat p73)
War horses are large beasts trained for aggression. They are trained to fight with both hooves, either to their front or their rear. In combat, the animal attacks any round its rider doesn’t make a trick maneuver of some kind.

Bio:
Aetherton was born in Thrushmoor (20 years ago), his mother died in childbirth. As the only son of the Count Lowls of Versex, everyone who pays attention to such things is aware that he is the heir. His childhood was relatively uneventful if somewhat lonely, his father took as much interest in parenting as he does in governance. However, he did hire fine tutors, and sent Aetherton to study at the Sincomakti School of Sciences when he was 16. The Count’s falling-out with Professor Miertmane resulted in Aetherton being transferred to the Quarterfaux Archives in Caliphas for the remainder of his formal education.
Aetherton does not particularly care for Caliphas. He has become accustomed to the deference and indulgence he received as Viscount of Rozenport in Versex, and is somewhat annoyed by the change in status from being a big fish in a medium lake to being a medium fish in a large sea. In Rozenport, he was recognized by all and catered to, as everyone in Versex realized he would someday be Count. In Caliphas, Aetherton is one Noble in a city full of such ilk, is only occasionally recognized, and those who do recognize him as a Lowls almost invariably seek to take advantage of him. While most of these attempts are financial, there are occasionally ambitious debutantes who attempt to embarrass him into marriage. Unbeknown to Aetherton, his father took steps to foil the foolishness teenage males are prone to, and had Aetherton cursed to remain barren, the ‘condition’ that must be satisfied to lift the curse is marriage.
Aetherton currently resides at the Lowls Estate on Laurelight Hill in Caliphas while occasionally being privately tutored by professors from the Quarterfaux Archives. Current subjects of study are History, Law, and Esoterica (i.e., Occult), and Etiquette. He is also privately instructed in Swordsmanship and Grand Strategy by Antonio Mariocci of the Ferro Academia de Caliphvaso (who would very much like Aetherton to become publicly known as a student).
Socially, Aetherton occasionally accepts invitations, but currently feels unable to host events because the Lowls House is running on a skeleton staff and the Count has been uncommonly restrained with funds of late.
Aetherton’s official goals are to learn what he needs to know to govern Versex well, establish social connections with the Nobility, and establish a reputation for himself as a slayer of monsters, solver of problems, and protector of the common man. Unofficially, he intends to enjoy himself as much as possible before something happens to his father and the manacles of duty and responsibility are clapped on, and is interested in finding discreet outlets for the sorts of things that young nobles indulge in. He is beginning to appreciate that Caliphas is much more suited to discreet adventures and debauchery than Rozenport, where he couldn’t walk down the street without being recognized.
Aetherton has a suite in the castle at Rozenport (comparable to a Presidential suite in a high-end modern hotel) reserved for his use, he does not have a separate manor.
